The DueLire Story…
DueLire is the final act of a dream. It all started many years ago in my grandmother’s house in Napoli watching both my mother and grandmother cooking the traditional Sunday lunch. The slow and precise movements happening in front of my eyes, the surprising aromas, genuine laughs, love and passion that filled the kitchen was mesmerizing. Masterpieces were being created through such good times.
I’ve always felt the urge to recreate those moments and share those dishes with the people I loved so I started to cook and entertain my friends. It became all about simple food, good times, great wines and entertaining conversation. Year after year the idea to open a place where food, wine and good times were going to be all tied together started to take shape.
Finally, the time was right…I found the perfect the spot in Lincoln Square for Italian inspired restaurant based on simple, fresh and seasonal ingredients. A place where you can bring friends, meet new ones and celebrate life through food, wine and conversation.
We want to bring back the simplicity of Italian food, yet adding an intriguing twist. A menu of great, simple dishes paired with a wine list consisting of very reasonable choices. The connection between quality and price it was the main concern when we developed the menu and the wine list.
We feel lucky to be part of the wonderful neighborhood. We want to engage the people who live around us and give them another choice where to go and enjoy themselves. We look forward to seeing you soon!

About Due Lire
Massimo learned the way around the kitchen by watching his mother and grandmother cook many family meals back in Napoli. His mom, Rita, is still an inspiration. After moving to the states in early nineties, he lived in New York, Washington D.C. and finally settled in Chicago. With almost 20 years of restaurant experience, he developed his skills in every aspect of the business, most recently with the Bice Group and Gioco.
